> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://cal.id/docs/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Setting Up Routing Forms in Cal ID > Build a Cal ID routing form that asks a few qualifying questions and automatically directs bookers to the right person, event type, or external URL. ## Overview Cal ID's Routing Forms help people quickly book the right appointment with the right person. It works by asking the booker a few questions. Based on their answers, the system automatically directs them to the correct person, a specific event, or an external website—saving time for everyone and avoiding mistakes like booking with the wrong person or choosing the wrong type of meeting. Routing rules read the booker's answers and match them against conditions you define. A qualified lead can be sent straight to a specific event type or a team's round-robin queue, while everyone else falls through to a fallback route—so the right people always land on the right booking page. ## Create a new form Log in to your Cal ID account and click on **Routing** in the left-hand sidebar. Click the **+ New** button (or "Create Routing form") in the top right corner. New routing form button If you are part of a team, the system will ask if this form is for your **Personal** account or for a specific **Team**. Choose personal or team ownership An **Add new form** pop-up will appear: * **Title**: Give your form a clear name (for example, "New Client Inquiry"). * **Description**: Briefly explain the purpose of the form for your internal reference. Add new form pop-up with title and description Click the **Create** button to proceed. ## Design the form (questions) You will be redirected to the **Form** tab to build your questionnaire. Click the **Add question** button to create your first field. You can add as many as you want. Add question button * **Label**: The question the user will see (for example, "What is your budget?"). * **Identifier**: A unique internal name used for setting up routing rules later. * **Type**: Select the format of the answer: **Short Text**, **Long Text**, **Single Select**, **Multi-select**, **Email**, **Phone**, or **Number**. * **Required**: Select **Yes** if the user must answer this to proceed. Question configuration fields After adding all your questions, click the **Save** button in the top right corner. After adding the required questions, your page will look like this: Completed form with questions ## Set up routing rules Navigate to the **Routing** tab to decide where users go based on their answers. If you don't want to add any route, then set the **Fallback route**, where you want to send the booker after they fill out the required questions. Routing tab with fallback route To add a route: Click **+ Add a new Route** to add a route. Add a new route button Click **+ Add rule** to link a question to a value (for example, "If Budget is Greater than 5000"). Add rule to a route If you add more than one rule, you have to define logic. Next to "For responses matching the following criteria," select a logic filter: * **All**: The user must meet **every** rule in this route to be redirected. * **Any**: The user only needs to meet **one** of the rules. * **None**: The route applies if the user meets **none** of the rules. Logic filter options * **Custom Page**: Display a specific "Thank You" or "Waitlist" message. Custom page destination * **External Redirect**: Send the user to another website (for example, your homepage). External redirect destination * **Event Redirect**: Send the user directly to a specific booking page (for example, a "Career Counselling" event). Event redirect destination At the bottom, set a **Fallback route** for users who do not match any of your specific rules. Fallback route setting Rules are evaluated top to bottom, and the first matching route wins—so place your most specific routes first and rely on the fallback route to catch everyone else. If you want to embed the routing form on your website or page, continue with the next section. ## Embed the form on your website Once your logic is set, go to the **Embed** tab and select the type. A pop-up will appear showing the snippet.
